Operations Security
|
Operations Security falls under three basic areas of concern: 1)Information Security 2)Physical Security 3)Personnel Security. Information Security covers a vast array of sources. Company SOPs, telephone directories, memos, rosters, newsletters, media coverage, internet, fax, and telecommunications are some of the key areas most often containing information about an organization. These are also the mediums through which data moves to persons or businesses who do not have a "need to know." These information systems must be closely controlled to prevent unwanted distribution of your business information. Physical Security is necessary to ensure the safety of company personnel and company assets as well as protecting the business from unauthorized access. Personnel Security is becoming very important since the increased threat of terrorism here in America. People need to be assured they can come to work, perform in a safe environment, then return safely to their families. Personnel Security is the security necessary to make workers safe in their workplace whether it is in the United States or abroad. With OPSEC there is no one key discipline. All three areas MUST be addressed. If there is a leak in Information Security there will be a vulnerability in Physical and Personnel Security and vice versa. A noticeable weakness in any area will cause the whole system to be weak. We can do a threat assessment and a vulnerability assessment of the three disciplines, prepare a risk analysis on the existing conditions, then make countermeasures recommendations on how to strengthen the overall OPSEC of your business. Once the countermeasures are in place we will come back and monitor their effectiveness to ensure OPSEC success! Contact us to schedule an initial consultation regarding your company OPSEC! |
